The New Mexico Scorpions looked championship ready after their 42-14 victory against Mean Machine. Depsite their star power, Mean Machine was unable to keep up with the explosiveness of the Scorpions offense.  

Quarterback Paul Crewe only completed 44.4% of his passes and he threw 4 intereceptions which cannot happen when you play against a high powered offense.  Earl Megget averaged 3.7 yards per attempt rushing for 52 yards against one of the worst defenses in the league.  

Cheeseburger Eddie and Jordan Dermott II both had over 100 yards receiving for Mean Machine, which is not surprising when you play against a 26 overall defense.

Mean Machine’s defense deserves a lot of credit, despite giving up 42 points.  The defense sacked Tevor Ricker 9 times and picked him off 3 times.  

The Scorpions led by Tevor Ricker totaled 502 yards on offense and picked up an insane 25 first downs.    Ricker played a pretty ugly game, throwing for 381 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown, but was picked off 3 times, and sacked 9 times.

Running Back Evan Polk had 203 total yards and 2 touchdowns in round 1 vs Mean Machine giving the Scorpions perfect balance to their attack.  

There is no secret, the Scorpions have one of the worst defenses in the league, so if they can get anything from the D its a huge plus.  In this matchup vs Mean Machine, The scorpions defense had 4 takeaways and sacked Paul Crewe 2 times.  

Despite 3 turnovers and giving up 9 sacks on offense, the New Mexico Scorpions seems like a team you need to look out for.
