#19 liberty city wrath vs #6 jamaica » backbreaker

The Liberty City Wrath were huge underdogs coming into this game ranked nearly dead last at #19, but they were able to upset a very good Jamaica team that has a explosive offense.  How did they do it?  The Wrath’s 46 overall defense were able to get to qb Ladarius Marley at will, piling up 15 sacks in this game.  Marley was on the run the entire game, and his receivers didn’t help him much with 13 drops vs Jamaica.  

His most reliable target in the game was Jason Nwachukwu with 6 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns, despite his 2 drops in the 1st half.  Jamaica’s run game was non existent vs the Wrath.  As a team they rushed for 28 yards.  

Despite their win, Liberty City was not spectacular on offense.  Starting quarterback Gregory Michael only threw for 145 yards and had 1 touchdown, which is game manager type stats in Backbreaker.  Their one bright spot on offense was running back Cornelius Boone who carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Boone’s performance proved he’s more than an international talent, but can also compete against the best in the BFL.

The Wrath’s defense was the real superstar of the game.  With their 15 sack performance, they put the league on notice.  Chase Mahoney had 4 sacks, Taylor Heinsworth also had 4 sacks, Raulo Escobar had 2 sacks, and Von Carr, Darren Edwards, Kevon Wright, and Nick Liberty each had 1 sack.  

With their 26-21 victory over the Sprinters, Liberty City will advance to round 2 and Jamaica will look forward to the BFL Draft.
